If a camper gets sick or has an accident, the incident should be reported to a counselor, who will report the incident to the camp directors who will take appropriate steps such as transferring the camper to a medical facility or arranging for transportation home. In cases where the emergency is severe in nature, the camper discovering the condition should call 911 and then refer the victim to the counsellor. The camper will be responsible for incurred expenses associated with their care.
In these cases, parents and the camp directors and counsellors need to work together to put together a plan of action that meets the individual needs of each child. Parents will need to provide detailed information about the condition and provide consent for appropriate intervention within the capacity of the counsellor as first aid measure only.

Additional safety steps will be taken on trips e.g. camper to counsellor ratio will be reduced e.g. 4:1 depending on age. For their safety primarily, campers must comply with instructions of personnel assigned to positions of responsibility. Any violation of rules, or any misconduct must first be reported to the camper’s counselor for remedial action. If the issue cannot be resolved at this level, the next level of authority is the head counselor, camp director and ultimately the camper’s pastor.
