Job Description
Under the direction and guidance of the Summer Camp Executive Director, Design, Develop and Execute 2026 Summer Camp Program. This includes 1 day of Pre-Camp hands-on training and development before Summer Camp starts. Included in the youth’s training, will be direction for Customer Service, Leadership, Managing Staff and the proper procedures for social distancing in a professional setting. Outcomes for the youth will be learning how to develop work plans as a team as well as gaining experience in Customer Service, Leadership Skill-Set, through coordinating parents, campers and counsellors.
Specific Job Duties
- Manage the day-to-day functions of Camp life.
- Monitoring and evaluating recreational programs.
- Major role in the development of the entire Camp Program for 8 weeks in weekly increments.
- Implement camp curricula.
- Supervise camp counsellors including assessing work performance and taking disciplinary measures when necessary.
- Actively participate in the development and delivery of Mentorship programs.
- Manage the camp Operational Budget
- Assist in staff recruitment, training, and supervision.
- Coordination, operation and support of programs, ensuring their effective and cohesive operation on a day-to-day-basis; camper wellness.
Skills
- Pro-actively identify and solve problems and areas of concern for staff, campers and volunteers, and parents/guardians.
- Posses excellent written and verbal skills.
- Manage inventory; plan special events and trips; plan and disseminate weekly program schedules for all activities to staff and management.
- Greet and welcome all campers, staff and volunteers each day.
- Orient all campers to camp rules on first day.
- Relieve other counsellors as required; remain visible and accessible.
- Demonstrated experience working with children and youth, preferably in a camp style setting.
- Agreement to comply with the values and principles of the MEAC Church, on which the program is built. Complete all other application requirements e.g. complete and signed Code of Conduct form and agree to follow all camp objectives, rules, policies and procedures as established by MEAC.
- Demonstrated leadership, responsibility, time management, decision-making skills and is able to work as part of a team. Sound judgement and flexibility to work on a shift basis is also required.
