What can I expect to do in this role?

Reporting directly to the Executive Director/Pastor, the Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support to the Meadowvale East Apostolic Church Summer Camp.

Primary responsibilities will include

  • Establishing and maintaining files, records and databases in a professional and organized fashion paying particular attention to confidentiality and privacy.
  • Posses excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Perform routine administrative duties including word processing, formatting documents, photocopying, scanning, faxing, mailing, filing, coding bills, petty cash, minute taking and assisting with scheduling.
  • The Administrative Assistant will be required to complete registrations for campers and assist in completing intake packages for new campers and the coordination of events, information sessions, training, and meetings.
  • Schedule and book field trip activities and engage in the administration of employee documentation as well as time and attendance.
  • Work within the team to create a welcoming and friendly environment for campers, employees, and families.
  • Assist staff in logistical management of approved initiatives to support the camp’s goals, including acquisition of supplies, inventory management, bookkeeping and strategic planning.
  • Other duties as assigned including assistance at lunch and snack times, camper activities and field trips.
  • Attendance during training sessions and regular meetings is also required and s/he is required to maintain accurate records, incident reports, attendance, other duties as assigned, and report any incidents directly to the Executive director.

How Do I Qualify:
  • Must be between the ages of 15-30 years at the start of the employment. Maybe more than 30 years at the end of the employment period.
  • Applicants must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person to whom Refugees protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; for the duration of employment, and have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant territorial and provincial legislation and regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience working with children and youth, preferably in a camp style setting. Agreement to comply with the values and principles of the MEAC Church, on which the program is built.
  • Complete all other application requirements e.g. complete and signed Code of Conduct form and agree to follow all camp objectives, rules, policies, and procedures as established by MEAC.
  • Demonstrated leadership, responsibility, time management, decision-making skills and is able to work as part of a team.
  • Sound judgement and flexibility to work on a shift basis is also required.
  • Applicant must be willing to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check at their own expense before start of employment.
  • CPR Certified will be an asset, but not mandatory
